Based on the questions asked by aspiring authors, it becomes clear that often they will slow their own insecurities and fear of criticism. How to overcome your fear? What to do for the beginner to raise their self-esteem and to stop being afraid readers? Consider a few simple but effective ways.
Uncertainty beginners – the phenomenon frequent. Find out why this is happening, you can from the lectures of psychologist Olesia Haradinaj. From myself to add, to solve the problem with uncertainty can help a new experience. Author doubters just need to experience positive feedback.
Of course, hard-won text you seems perfect. But if he liked the reader? You don't learn about it until you show it. Risk still have. And if you are willing to develop in this area, you have to try.
1. Public discussion
Rate your knowledge and your experience, understand which themes you have something to say. Take the time to write a list of topics and select those in which you have expertise. This can be topics such as "healthy nutrition", "sports", "books", "animals", "repair", "flowers", "crafts", "travel", "music", "movie", etc. For many women the main to the statements it is children's theme: from pregnancy to problems in school.
Once defined the circle of "their" topics, search for the siteswhere I publish articles on these topics and importantly where there is a possibility to leave comments, thematic forums and appropriate blogs. Create an alias and sign up for the online resources. Start to write comments, join discussions.
For a start, we recommend to participate in those discussions, where there were no disputes, no insults, where people just share their experience. I read at least a few branches of discussions, you will understand what the audience comes to these pages and how to lead. If you see that there is calm, and the theme is close to you, try!
When nabete hand on a simple (harmless) subjects, go to where there is a disagreement between the parties and has to defend his point of view. Such sites will help you learn how to choose the "correct" words for the audience, and you will receive the first experience of criticism. Be prepared to hear it, and received, analyze where the opponent show emotions (and thus should not respond), and indicates the shortcomings of your text saying (take note!).
Cons of participation in public discussions: a lot of time to spend on reading other people's comments and waiting for replies.
Pros: learn to formulate ideas, to adapt to the audience, to speak its language. Such Internet communication with strangers will help you understand what your opponents/readers are ordinary people. If you participate in a discussion on the popular portals (alternatively, cosmo.ru), you can see the editors and maybe this will help you in future career glossy of the author, what happened with Lena Loseva.
2. Sites otzoviki
Another option to obtain the first experience of public texts – these are sites that write reviews. There are theme sites (kinopoisk.ru, livelib.ru etc.) and General (irecomend.ru, otzovik.org, otzovy.ru etc.), which shows the different products/services. Terms for the publication of reviews on these sites is simple and straightforward. Read the basic requirements, sign up and challenge yourself as an author, not a party to the discussion.
Cons: readers will not be too much, and your text will become the property of the portal.
Pros: you learn to argue and to write a small but complete texts with introduction, main part and ending. Can experiment with styles and material. Some sites get mini mini a bonus for this careful study of conditions. Other participants sometimes give feedback: put the pros/cons, comment. Qualitative feedback can replace your portfolio.
3. Sites questions and answers – a subspecies of social networking
Examples: the Big question (bolshoyvopros.ru), Answers to mail.ru (otvet.mail.ru) and others.
This method of public statements – a hybrid of the first two. On the one hand, you communicate – answer to a specific question of a specific person, on the other hand, you need to not only unsubscribe, but to build a decent text saying to give an exhaustive answer on the topic.
As with forums, don't start with sensitive issues (e.g. politics), try those topics where disputes do not arise.
Cons: your texts (and sometimes the answers are really into texts) become the property of the portal. Long stay on such sites turn into addiction.
Pros: as in the previous options, you learn to argue, to write coherent text and receive feedback (+/-) from other participants. There is a small monetary reward (Big question). You have the opportunity to find experts and specialists from different fields, which can be useful later as experts.
4. Participation in competitions
Looking for information about contests, where you have to write something. Study the conditions and try. Of course, the right competitions are held too often and can't always find out about them in time, but remember that "the road will overcome the walking" and, therefore, if you seek the probability of finding increase.
Cons: have to specify the authorship, and the organizers to provide more detailed information about yourself. The more serious the competition and the more expensive the prize, the more information you have to provide.
Pros: invaluable experience — you are practicing writing task and to invest in time. Feedback from readers and the jury. The opportunity to win a prize! Competition work you can show to a potential customer instead of a portfolio as done at the time of Yaroslavna Klevtsova.
5. Own blog
Now it is quite easy to start a blog and write on almost any topic. You can create an account on LiveJournal or VK, to use free blogging platform from Google or to layout a website using WordPress. Choose best option for themselves and start writing on topics that interest you.
Minus: if you will not promote your blog and attract readers, they will see your writing soon.
Plus: the reverse side of the minus — you will have time to adjust to their own texts posted on the Internet. After a while you are, most likely, will see their shortcomings and flaws and can fix them. When you feel ready to show the text, give references to friends and acquaintances. A blog can become your business card and replace the portfolio.
If you know of other "cure-doubt" for aspiring authors, please share in the comments.
And now the epilogue, or tips on track:
- Settling near the monitor to tune to positivity and success.
- Write in a good mood, share good thoughts and advice.
- Keep a diary of progress – every night or once a week, note how many positive reviews you have received.
- Praise by other authors, because maybe they, too, crave support.
You yourself will not notice how the anxiety will decrease, and the desire to write will become stronger. From small notes/statements/essay, you'd better recognize yourself as the author, realize your strengths and weaknesses, understand what you need to work and what you should learn.
